When can I expect to receive my brownies? If you have selected to have your brownies delivered by Royal Mail post, we aim to dispatch your order the next working day if you order by 12pm. Delivery times will depend on Royal Mail and will be beyond our control. If you require your brownies to arrive before a specific date, we advise that you place your order a day or two earlier (the brownies will normally still be in good condition for another 7-10 days after you receive them).
We can also arrange for Royal Mail's guaranteed next day Special Delivery at extra cost. Please contact us if you wish to do this. Local customers can of course come and pick up your brownies from us or we can deliver them locally for a small charge. In these cases, we would appreciate if you could let us know at least two days beforehand, so we can plan for your brownies to reach you at their very best. What is the cancellation or returns policy? If you change your mind after placing an order, please let us know as soon as possible. Unfortunately once we have started baking your order we are unable to offer you a refund.
In the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with your order, let us know so we can try and rectify this with you. Where else can I buy your brownies?Other than our online shop, Aberdeen customers can purchase our brownies from Thistle Street Food Market which is on every second Saturday of every month. We also appear at major food events within Aberdeen such as Taste of Grampian, Deeside Food Festival and Aberdeen Christmas markets.
We supply Hammerton Store regularly, usually a fresh delivery every Friday afternoon. Follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts for updates. |
About our browniesAre your brownies gluten-free?Our special recipe uses ground almonds in place of wheat flour which is used in the majority of brownies recipes elsewhere. There are no other ingredients in our brownies that contain gluten.
However our brownies are baked in a kitchen which is also used to prepare other foods that contain gluten. Although the brownies are produced under strict Food Standards Scotland guidance (particularly in preventing cross-contamination) our kitchen is not currently certified as 'gluten-free'. As we do take this matter very seriously, we only label our products 'made without gluten' rather than 'gluten-free' (GF). We may obtain 'gluten-free' certification in the future in which case we will keep you posted. Do you mix almond flour with any other flour?Definitely not.
Are your brownies suitable for vegetarians?Yes, all our brownies are suitable for vegetarians. Unfortunately we have yet to come up with vegan versions.
All our brownies are alcohol-free. Are your brownies suitable for nut allergy sufferers? Our brownies contain ground almonds as a main ingredient. We deeply regret that our brownies would be unsuitable for nut allergy sufferers. Even though almonds categorically are not nuts, they are usually packaged in factories that handles nuts.
How about allergies to eggs or milk?Eggs and dairy products are part of the main ingredients in our brownies and therefore would be unsuitable for egg or dairy product allergy sufferers respectively.
All the most common allergens are printed in bold on our ingredients list. What are the sizes of your brownies? Our brownies are baked individually in a 6x8 inch pan. They are then carefully cut into 12 squares (about 5x5cm) and usually weighs between 650-750 grams depending on the flavour chosen and the batch made (although our ingredients are weighed using electronic scale so no-one gets a smaller portion, we are unable to standardise things like the size of the large eggs).
How do I keep my brownies fresh? Our brownies start to develop the sought after fudgier and gooeier (if there is such a word!) texture from about two days after baking. They thus lend themselves very well to mail orders. In all cases, we never sell brownies from stock, they are always baked fresh to order.
The brownies will keep well in cool room temperature for up to 14 days after baking. We recommend that they are eaten within 7-10 days after you receive them. Please store them wrapped in greaseproof paper and box they came with or in a relatively airtight conditions. We do recommend that you refrigerate them during warmer months. Should you need to freeze them, we recommend taking the brownies out of their packaging and wrap them up tightly in cling film before freezing. They will keep well for up to three months. |
